Jeff Yang, FSA, is the founder of IBNR Health.

Throughout his decade-long career as a healthcare actuary, Jeff has certified numerous Statements of Actuarial Opinion (SAOs) for healthcare liabilities. A Statement of Actuarial Opinion is a formal certification, required by regulators, in which a qualified actuary attests that an organization's claim reserves, including IBNR, are reasonable and adequate to cover its future liabilities. In 2022, he expanded his work toward building products for the actuarial profession, developing platforms that are now relied upon daily by the actuarial community.

Having worked with different IBNR models at four different organizations, Jeff found that many of the methods and procedures used to develop reserves could benefit from more automation and standardization. While each organization faces unique challenges, the underlying calculations for setting reserves remain consistent. He built IBNR Health to expedite the loss reserving process so that actuaries can focus on business decisions and high-level analysis, not data preparation and other tedious low-impact tasks.
